Nothing Gold Can Stay

PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTION BY: PEYTON REES

"I initially took these images for an art display for a group where I go to school (Emory University). The show I took these for was titled “Age of Opulence” and was intended to be a satirical take on high art museums. The point of the show was to speak out against traditional art, and how non-traditional media is generally frowned upon. Thus I took these images using a rented camera and a grand total of $25 of supplies. I wanted these to look as elegant as I could using cheap supplies. I don’t think that you need expensive materials to create, it’s about creating something you enjoy. I really had fun making these! My models were two of my good friends and myself. I love painting faces and editing pictures, and this entire process was just incredibly enjoyable for me. The exhibition was sadly cancelled due to COVID-19, but I’m glad I have the opportunity to show these off; I’m very happy with the results."
